Now how do we do that...
Working with the plethora of services (plethora isn't that a great word just rolls off the tongue) that deal with disabled clients can be a complete mind boggling, heart wrenching and exasperating experience.
We could just fire any that oppose our wishes for Paul. (firing range comes to mind)
Lobotomy? Hmmm it's a thought. (Wink wink)
Currently, our family concern is about the case manager for the state. She started out decent a few years back but now is simply doing all she can to push her agenda and avoid or undermine the family, which has been causing major issues for Paul. Mom and I feel she needs to be replaced. Anastasia however, feels she needs to lose her job. Uh Oh.
Honestly, there are numerous options to choose from.
First, the family (aka guardians) need to be in agreement.
Second, the "spoke" person...in this case Mom or I (Anastasia needs to take some time to heal herself as she is very sick and this only makes it worse).
Next is to decide the "HOW" and the "WHEN"
Fourth, find out who the Case Manager's Supervisor is. As guardians it is important to know we have every right to terminate services or people that are not working for Paul or with the family in his care. In this case there is a new supervisor the one we know is no longer in position. This came as news to all the family. (typical)
Finally, talk with the new Supervisor and determine the next steps of termination of Paul's current "Case Manager" and talk about other options. This I feel needs to be done in person so that the family's 'spoke person' can get a feel for the individuals who will be involved in the management of Paul and his services.
As for my sister and her desire to have the current case mngr lose her job with the State. Well...she can go there and I am not saying there isn't a case for that however, I feel that once she is gone then we can move forward with Paul and his care. I have no time for lawsuits personally. There are so many other things to concern ourselves. (Have to realize that each person involved with an individual's care has the right to pursue whatever they wish or deem is important--aka control of their own agenda)
I believe that KNOWLEDGE is POWER. It places one in a position of equal footing with all the services that deal with Paul's care on a day to day basis.
My steps are simply the following:
ASK!!!!
READ!!!!
SEEK OUT INFORMATION!!!
DISCUSS OPTIONS!!!!
CHOOSE PATH!!!!
DECIDE TO ACT!!!!
ACT!!!!!!!!!!
(repeat as necessary)
